Our Story...
How we began...
Barefoot Hope began with a simple moment that left a lasting impact on its founder, high school student, Fuad Rizqalla. While on a medical mission, he spent time at an orphanage, playing basketball with the children and sharing in the daily routines of the health team. The children were well cared for, and the experience left a lasting impression in many ways. But what moved him most was seeing how many of them were barefoot... running, playing, and going about their day without something so basic.
He returned home unable to shake the feeling that this was a simple need he could help meet. He asked for support to bring shoes to the children he had met, hoping to offer not just comfort, but dignity and care. From this mindset of serving others with compassion, Barefoot Hope was born, a mission rooted in empathy, hope, and the belief that even the smallest gesture can create meaningful change.
Since then, Fuad has continued working to make the world around him more just and equitable for those in need.
